Why this exists
Americans feel less connected to their own neighborhoods than people in 22 of the 24 countries Pew surveyed — and two-thirds of us never set foot in a club or a group all year. Not because folks stopped caring about where they live. Most still say they belong here and that their neighbors would help them out.
They just don't hear about things in time. The ball game, the fish fry, the fundraiser, the market — it's all happening in Cowlitz County right now, scattered across a dozen Facebook groups, church bulletins, and flyers taped up by a register. Nobody's keeping one list anymore.
